Can a yoga class really do all of that?

Dear Reader,

If you are pregnant and have been practicing yoga - or other fitness - why would you want or need to take a class specific to pregnancy?

If you recently had a baby, and your OB gave you the green light to "start exercising and having sex again", why would you seek out a class specific to postpartum?

If you had your babies years ago, why would you want a class just for moms?

So many reasons!! And I know you could name a few. My reasons really have nothing to do with fitness.

My number one reason why you should consider joining Yoga for Motherhood is that mothers need other mothers.

Pregnant women need to be with other pregnant people to share experiences of changing bodies, fears and celebrations Pregnant people also need to see what happens after birth.

Postpartum women need to be with other postpartum people to share experiences of changing bodies, fears and celebrations. Postpartum moms also need to share their wisdom from crossing the threshold of birth.

Mothers at all stages have changing bodies, fears and celebrations! It comes with the territory of motherhood. Mothers of all stages have vast wisdom to share with each other.

A few more reasons why Yoga for Motherhood is different:

  • The practices are at a pace meant to soothe your nervous system - because mothering in this age can quite quickly overwhelm your system
  • The practices are specific to the aches and pains of the pregnant and postpartum body - which are constantly changing
  • We take a nice long savasana (final relaxation) - which might mean a nap for you 😴
  • We connect to the essential power of motherhood: intuition
  • We practice skills to embody this power as a mother: grounding and connecting

Can a yoga class really do all that? Come as see for yourself.

Yoga for Motherhood: Wednesdays, 2-3:30pm at Radiance Yoga (our 8 class series ends March 12, drop-ins welcome)

Blessings,
Dawn

Dear friends, Spring is here! Can you feel the energy shift? I often have a lot of inspiration this time of year and while I know it isn't going to last, I get to learn how to harness it and ride the waves. This weekend I went back to the beginning (a spring theme 🌱) of my Sacred Rhythms' work: I went to a doula training! You see, the birth of my first child, like the birth of every child, was an initiation. Not only into my journey as mother but into the sacred power of birth itself. And...

Dear friends, I want to invite you (or your pregnant friends) to our Embodied Birth Skills childbirth education course. You may have heard me talk about this as an evergreen online course - which it is. AND occasionally, when there is enough interest, I offer this course in person! And there has been interest lately. In person can really be amazing! You get the community aspect in addition to the course material, and there is no way that I can replicate community with an online class. Of...

Dear Reader, Do you trust your body? Do you know how to "listen to your body?" Have you ever felt betrayed by your body? I think a lot of women feel confusion about their bodies, what their bodies are "saying" or are fearful about something in their bodies. I think many of us feel like we wish our bodies could do more. Like, the brain says, "you should be able to just get up and do that thing..." or "just keep going, it will be fine!" and then later it is NOT fine! You're exhausted. And...
