New Offerings for January 2025

Hey moms out there - I see you!

I have 2 boys, 11 and 6 years old, and we had a pretty relaxing winter break, all things considered. When my kids are on break I generally don't "work". Like, I don't try to write emails to my community, or post on social media, or do numbers. It is enough for my nervous system to be present with them and keep them occupied in a way that I feel good about. Plus make food, do laundry, schedule playdates, prep for Christmas, etc.

Come January I'm done with "sleeping in" and laissez faire bedtimes and brunch. I'm ready to get up and get the kids out of the house so I can turn back to me. This is a real advantage of the school-aged stage.

But January in North Carolina is kind of ridiculous. I mean, its not the weather that bothers me, it is our infrastructure's inability to handle 1/2" of snow or "refreezing" snow melt that leads to more days off and "remote learning"!!!

Last night, in a conversation about the newborn baby stage, we reminisced about the days when we would be home with a baby all day with no other adults around. In this phase of new motherhood, we so often think we can do what our Maiden selves could do. She remembered how she just wanted to make potato salad, but being alone with the baby it took ALL DAY to do this one task!

Now, my children are quite self-sufficient in many ways. They will happily play outside for long stretches of time, even in the cold. But add deadlines and school work and I throw out all of my own personal goals.

Ok, its not the same as newborn stage! I can sleep, feed myself and I have no one's butt to clean but my own!

But motherhood is demanding at all stages!

We can't do it alone.

Because we need to be alone ourselves! Or with other adults experiencing similar challenges.

For this reason, I am really excited to share two new offerings available to a broader audience:

Yoga for Motherhood

Yoga for Motherhood is a community class for all bodies tending to motherhood - on a fertility journey, pregnant, postpartum with babes in arms, and any other stage of motherhood where you are looking to slow down and connect with a community of care-takers.

In every class I offer, I aim to create an atmosphere of calm power where you can turn towards your intuition and trust the process that is unfolding.

In Yoga for Motherhood, we use postures, breathing techniques and meditation to nourish and heal the body, soothe the nervous system and connect with each other as mothers.

Class will begin January 22, 2-3:30pm at Radiance Yoga Studio!

Mom's Circle

A free class for moms of children of any age

We will practice nervous system skills for grounding, expressing feelings and moving through tough times as a community of mothers.

This is a self-care, mental-health kind of class where you get to focus on yourself (and leave the kids with a trusted someone else)

This is a free class leading into my full 8-week MotherCircle course

January 17, 11am FREE (RSVP requested in bio)

I hope to see you soon in yoga or in circle!

Blessings,
Dawn

Dear friends, Spring is here! Can you feel the energy shift? I often have a lot of inspiration this time of year and while I know it isn't going to last, I get to learn how to harness it and ride the waves. This weekend I went back to the beginning (a spring theme 🌱) of my Sacred Rhythms' work: I went to a doula training! You see, the birth of my first child, like the birth of every child, was an initiation. Not only into my journey as mother but into the sacred power of birth itself. And...

Dear friends, I want to invite you (or your pregnant friends) to our Embodied Birth Skills childbirth education course. You may have heard me talk about this as an evergreen online course - which it is. AND occasionally, when there is enough interest, I offer this course in person! And there has been interest lately. In person can really be amazing! You get the community aspect in addition to the course material, and there is no way that I can replicate community with an online class. Of...

Dear Reader, Do you trust your body? Do you know how to "listen to your body?" Have you ever felt betrayed by your body? I think a lot of women feel confusion about their bodies, what their bodies are "saying" or are fearful about something in their bodies. I think many of us feel like we wish our bodies could do more. Like, the brain says, "you should be able to just get up and do that thing..." or "just keep going, it will be fine!" and then later it is NOT fine! You're exhausted. And...
